Bárbara Schürmann leads the tax practice at Proença de Carvalho in Lisbon, which she established in 2025. She advises Portuguese and international businesses, investors, high-net-worth individuals and family businesses on Portuguese tax matters, with a particular focus on corporate taxation, transactions, financial institutions and real estate.

Her experience includes structuring domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and corporate reorganisations, as well as advising on the taxation of investment funds, branches and financial instruments. She also assists clients with tax planning, international mobility and the tax aspects of holding and transferring family wealth.

Bárbara combines transactional advice with experience in tax disputes, including litigation and the resolution of disagreements with the Portuguese tax authorities. Her work also includes preparing requests for binding tax rulings on complex transactions.
